O.C. Brew HaHa Blog Website

Web Casa Design completed a custom blog website for the O.C. Brew HaHa which is an event that is taking place on Saturday, 9/11 to honor OC’s breweries and the Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Over 50 local breweries are participating in the event that begins at 11:00 am and with a Gold VIP ticket will get you beer tasting from all of the participating breweries and even an hour for private tastings with the brewmasters for an hour after the event is over.

In addition to beer sampling, there will be educational seminars by Dr. Bill Sysak, Ed Heethuis, Stef Ferrari and Jonathan Porter.

The website was designed within WordPress open source software and allows the site administrators to add breweries, restaurants, entertainment and expert speakers on the fly from any browser or even by downloading an iPad or iPhone app and can easily be modified by even the most novice web administrator.

Flash Websites and Mobile Internet

One of the biggest requests we get when a client wants to design a brand new website is flash technology with music and all of the fun moving parts available in a flash designed website. What we try to immediately do is talk the client out of developing a website entirely in flash mainly because of the fact that the iPad and iPhone/iTouch devices do not support Flash. If you visit a flash website from your iPhone, you will see a completely blank page. The only way to design a flash website correctly is to offer an alternate non-flash version of your website that will auto-detect Apple and other handheld devices and will give everyone else a choice to enter the hi-resolution flash site or the low-resolution html website.

Mary Meeker of Morgan Stanley is the lead Internet Analyst and has been dubbed the ‘Queen of the Net’ because of her extensive knowledge of internet trends. According to her latest State of the Internet report, social networking and mobile internet will be the two most overwhelming online trends of this technology cycle. She predicts that within the next 5 years, more people will connect to the internet via their mobile device than desktop computers. Out of all of those mobile devices connecting to the internet currently, almost 65% of them are iPhones. Add to that number that Apple sold 3 million iPads in only 80 days and you see the overwhelming reasons why flash should be used more and more sparingly on websites.

The reasons have varied and rumors have swirled for years on why Steve Jobs will not support Flash Technology on any of Apple’s devices. There were so many requests that he had to lay the rumors to rest and publish an article detailing exactly why Apple will never support Flash on any of it’s devices. You can read the article here.

Santa Ana River Trails Project

Web Casa Design has been chosen to develop a website for the Santa Ana River Trails that runs approximately 120 miles through Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The new website will use a new software to create an interactive trail map that allows the public to create a free account and bookmark their favorite trails, upload photos & videos. It will also allow users to find all facilities along the trail like restrooms, food, stores, easy to difficult trails and get trail status updates. Look for the new site to launch on June 30!

Chamber of Commerce City of Tustin CA

This Chamber had an old, outdated website that had a directory and all static pages that could not be updated by the employees of the Chamber. The only way to sign up for a membership was to call the chamber and have them email a PDF form or you could download it and print and mail it in.

The Chamber hired us to design a new website with a dynamic database driven by Chamber Master software and we developed SEO friendly modules to pull in directory, events calendar, banner advertising sales & management, online credit card processing and event ticket sales and more. Visitors can sign up and pay online for a new membership as well as renewing their membership online, updating their own information and the directory offers tiers of memberships now for enhanced placements, etc.

Laguna Strands Jewelry Design

Laguna Strands makes custom jewelry in Laguna Beach, Ca and no 2 pieces are alike. So this presented a challenge to selling items online since they were one of a kind and went very fast. So instead we designed an online brochure that would show the types of items she sells and she then takes orders at a zero price and contacts the customer for the ‘at-market’ prices since fine gemstones can change drastically in wholesale pricing. The website has been a huge success for her as she has been able to show her new items dynamically by adding them to the system herself from a web browser. This project included logo design, custom website design from scratch and Signature Cart e-commerce (without pricing).

Body by Blake – Personal Trainer

Blake Tarvin is a personal trainer in Orange County who wanted to grow his business and give his clients a way to see his latest before and after photos. He wanted the format to be in Wordpress blog so that he could maintain it from any web browser and post his news articles and fitness tips. He has been getting new clients from his local search listings and is thrilled with how easy it is for him to make changes even though he is a non-technical guy. This website included blog setup, logo design, graphic photo optimization and local search submitting.

All he wanted was a brochure website to show his professional video and give his background and education to prospective patients.
